Assalaamu Alaikum Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On behalf of the Islamic Center of Irving, its leadership, employees and volunteers, I would like to thank you for your participation and generosity shown at our virtual Ramadan Fund Raiser on Lailatur Qadr, the night of 27th Ramadan.

We raised approximately $200,000! Alhamdulillah!   A very significant number of well-wishers joined via Facebook and YouTube live and the donations continued to trickle-in throughout the night.  May Allah bless us all and accept our siyam, qiyam and sadaqat.

Also, ICI Waqf received $250,000 of the $500,000 pledged by an anonymous donor several weeks ago.  Alhamdulillah! This is by far, the largest single donation/pledge that ICI or its affiliates/subsidiaries have ever received.

May Allah bless all the donors and their families and may He multiply the donation hundreds of times!

Also, as an update, architectural design work for the retail center has been completed and submitted to the City for permitting purposes.  In sha Allah, assuming the permitting process goes well, we expect ground-breaking of the retail center to begin sometime in the August-September 2020 timeframe.

And, as a reminder, Zakatul Fitr this year will be $10 per person and may be paid at irvingmasjid.org/fitr, via zelle; zakatalfitr@irvingmasjid.org, by checks or by cash at the center.

Eid prayers will not be held at ICI this year.  In sha Allah, Imam Kashif will send instructions on how to pray at home and then listen to the Eid Khutbah.

Drive-through pick-up of Eid gifts/toys is also being planned.  You may participate by donating at irvingmasjid.org/donate

I also want to take this opportunity to wish you and family a very happy Eid.

Eid Mubarak!

Jazakum Allah Khairun,
Hassan Hye

Assalaamu Alakium Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In sha Allah, you are enjoying these blessed days of Ramadan. May Allah accept your siyam, qiyam, sadaqa and all the good deeds!
I wanted to take a moment to update you on what’s happening at ICI:

  • Zakatul Fitr is $10 per person and may be paid online, via zelle; zakatalfitr@irvingmasjid.org, by checks or by cash at the center.
  • ICI annual fund-raising event will, In sha Allah, be held on the 27th of Ramadan/Night of Power. Keynote speaker will be Imam Suhaib Webb. Please join and donate generously using the donations page.
  • The Masjid, in sha Allah, will remain closed at least until May 31st. We have another check point on May 27th with our COVID-19 Team, made-up of Imams, Scholars, Doctors and Shura Council, to determine if the Masjid can be opened on June 1st or should be delayed to a later date. Your safety continues to be our primary concern!
    • When we do open the Masjid, the plan is do so with limited attendance first and to expand gradually depending on situation and medical advice. Procedural details regarding how the opening will be managed will be provided once we know the opening date.
  • Eid prayers will not be held at ICI this year. In sha Allah, Imam Kashif will send instructions on how to pray at home and then listen to the Eid Khutbah.
  • The annual civic Iftar for elected officials, community leaders, intra-faith leaders, pastors, non-profit organizations, law-enforcement officials, Imams and Muslim community leaders was held virtually on May 16th. The program, which was sponsored by over 20 Muslim organizations and led by ICI veteran Dr. Raed Sbeit. Alhamdulillah, it was a huge success. Catered dinners were sent to the home of attendees. The program was also attended by a representative of Congresswoman Bernice Johnson, Mayors of Irving and Arlington.
  • ICI team is also leading the distribution of meals to “people who take care of us”. Thousands of meals have been distributed to government workers, first responders, health care workers, educators, law enforcement workers and the Waste Management folks. The program has been very well received, covered by local news media and projects Muslims in a favorable light.
  • As we informed previously, Iftars are also being distributed, on Fridays, to Irving Muslims on “vehicle drive-thru” pick-up basis. You may donate online.
  • Drive-through pick-up of Eid gifts/toys is also being planned. You may participate by donating online.
  • Architectural design work for the ICI-Waqf retail center is continuing. In sha Allah, we expect construction of the retail center to begin sometime in the 3Q of 2020.
  • Financial statements for the first 4 months of 2020 have been completed and are available at the ICI Office.

I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that Masjid must continue to pay for fixed operational expenses and invite you to participate at irvingmasjid.org/donate.

April 30, 2020

Assalaamu Alaikum Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We wanted to reiterate and confirm that Irving Masjid continues to be on lockdown status – which means, except for certain essential employees and security personnel, worshippers will not be allowed into the premises until further notice.

ICI is coordinating its decisions with North Texas Islamic Council (NTIC).  In addition, ICI has also formed its own COVID-19 team comprising of Medical Professionals, Imams, Religious Scholars and the ICI Leadership team to actively monitor the situation.  Safety is our primary concern. In Sha Allah, updates will be provided as available.

Let us seek forgiveness from Allah SWT and seek His assistance during these difficult times!

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Assalaamu Alaikum,

Ramadan Kareem! May Allah SWT accept our salah, fasting, charitable contribution, zakah and all the good deeds!

This Ramadan will present us with some unique challenges and opportunities. For one, the lockdown will continue, and we will not be offering any obligatory Salahs or Taraweeh prayer in the Masjid. While it is heart breaking to not be able to make sujuds in our masajids, we take solace in the words of our Prophet PBUH and the flexibility of our religion by recalling the translation of the hadith “…and the whole earth has been made a mosque for us” (Muslim 1060).

We will also miss the weekend iftars but arrangements are being made to distribute iftars on Fridays (only) for our community and neighbors. The iftar boxes will be distributed between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM on a first-come-first-serve basis to drive-through vehicles only. No walk-ups to the lobby or the distribution area. You are welcome to participate by donating non-zakat funds to ICI Operations by going to irvingmasjid.org/donate.

In Sha Allah, we will also have online programs to keep us engaged and connected with a few of the programs listed below:

  1. Hafiz Idrees will recite 1 Juz every day at 6:30 PM
    • Live Broadcast on YouTube and Facebook
  2. Imam Kashif will conduct a Tafseer class on Zoom every day from 5-6 PM
    • You must pre-register using this link (required)
    • No tuition fees
  3. Some youth activities are being designed pertaining to memorization and performing Salahs at home!

Please also remember that we have fixed operational costs that must be paid on a regular basis and we invite you to participate by going to irvingmasjid.org/donate.

Jazakum Allah Khairun,
Hassan Hye

Assalaamu Alakium Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Most of us are familiar with the saying of our Prophet, peace be upon him:
“How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to, no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.” (Narrated by Muslim)

Alhamdulillah, Muslims in Irving, like other places have been patient.  ICI has been under lockdown since March 13, 2020 and people are eager to return to the Masjid as soon as the situation will allow.  However, that has not deterred our community from staying engaged with our deen and to continue doing good.  To stay connected with you, ICI has gone “online”.  Below is a sample list of programs that have been initiated:

  • The ICI Emergency Response Team has been active fielding calls from community members who need various sorts of assistance – be it running a grocery errand, picking-up and delivering prescription medication or processing request for financial assistance.
  • The ICI/ICNA team has been distributing food packages
  • Imam Kashif has been delivering Ju’muah “reflections”, reminders and conducting Live Q/A couple of times a week. He also conducts Ramadan prep sessions (Mondays thru Thursdays) and a sister’s session every Tuesday evenings
  • There are 3 daily Khateras conducted by Imam Kashif, Mufti Muntasir and Ustadth Yusuf Jaber.  These are posted online in Facebook and Irving Masjid Youtube.
  • Chaplain Saeed Purcell posts reminders every Monday evenings
  • Four different fiqh classes are being held with total enrollment of 80 students
  • Insha Allah we are still planning on Tele-Health to start soon – in the meantime our physicians are helping the ICI community with prescription refills.

I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that Masjid must continue to pay for fixed operational expenses and invite you to participate at www.irvingmasjid.org/donate.

Jazakum Allah Khairun,
Hassan Hye
