A Community Message from ICI Shura Council (10-7-2020)

Dear Community Members, Assalaamu Alaikum,

Here is a general update:

* ICI is holding all 5 daily salahs with social distancing and other safe hygiene requirements
* Financial accounting through the month of August, 2020 has been completed and the statements were reviewed with the Shura Body on 10/4/2020. Financial statements will be posted in the Masjid Notice Board.
* Community town hall date has been changed to Saturday, after Zuhr, 10/17/2020 to be held in the ICI main musalla.
* The ICI Constitution has been posted on the ICI website.
* ICI published the Shura Body and Shura Council list as of 10/4/2020. Br. Saad Bairuty, a long-time ICI member, was added to the Shura Council and Dr. Raed Sbeit and Dr. Salem Akkad replaced 2 vacant positions in the Shura Body.

o Soon after receiving the NAIT dispute resolution process, ICI instructed its lawyers to accept the proposal and to include certain clarifications in the agreement (e.g., time for discovery, amount of time parties had to respond to questions, recourse when a party does not provide information, independence of mediator etc.).

o The main ICI Counsel confirmed that letter to NAIT will be sent on 10/6/2020. He had been sick for the last several days.

o As advised previously, immediately after the NAIT agreement is signed, the lawsuit will be withdrawn. Insha’Allah this should happen in days not weeks. As we mentioned before, the summons were also stopped from being served some time ago. At this time, no action is necessary on the lawsuit except withdrawal upon signing the agreement.

o As a clarification, for some of you who may have missed our update from 9/27/2020, reference to interest in the lawsuit was not reviewed or approved by ICI. With one Attorney suffering a heart attack, the second Attorney incorrectly assumed that the review was conducted by the other Attorney. We have expressed our displeasure about filing without ICI’s review and they assured us the mistake will be corrected in the “pleadings”. Insha’Allah, this will be a moot point.

We are all One ICI - on the side of “haqq” (truth) and caution everyone to be careful so as not to cause division and fraction in this beautiful community.
Lastly, we are here to serve and acknowledge that we are not perfect. We need your support and dua to unite the community, to focus on community and religious services and to achieve its goal of being the minaret of Islam in the west.

Alhamdulillah! The Islamic Center of Irving is pleased to announce that starting Monday, August 10, 2020, ICI will be opened for Fajr, Maghrib and Isha salahs. These salahs will be held in the Multiple Purpose Hall (MPH) on a first-come-first serve basis. Overflows (and for those who would prefer to pray in the open), will be accommodated in the parking lot. If you decide to pray in the open, please be mindful to stay behind the markings that will indicate Imam’s position.

2 Jumu’ah salahs will be held at 2 and 3 PM respectively in the MPH. Similar to the regular prayers, overflows will be accommodated in the Parking lot.

Please follow the following safety guidelines:

* Admission will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. No registration is required.
* Everyone must wear a mask.
* Everyone must bring their own prayer mat and shoe bag.
* Wudu should be performed at home (ICI bathrooms, wudu areas and water fountains will remain closed at all times).
* Everyone will be required to maintain 6ft social distancing
* Anyone with flu-like symptoms or pre-existing conditions prone to COVID-19 should please stay home
* Everyone is expected to leave immediately after salah and pray their Sunnah at home
* Please know you are coming to the Masjid at your own risk and ICI will not be responsible if you get sick
